A friend is in Ranger school and I talked to him on the phone for a few minutes last week and he mentioned that the hand to hand training has changed from Jujitsu to a different style. I only chatted with him for about 10 minutes. I can't wait to talk with him about it once he gets back from Georgia.

i just wrestled 3 years in highschool

I wish I would have wrestled in High School. Wrestling is a skill that I am slowly trying to develop. Since my left knee is shot, I have a better appreciation for ground work.

Yeah I am proud of him. He is the smallest kid in the class and his instructor is very good about stressing the more adult themes of respect and self discipline. He does not realize that he is learning that part of it, but he is. My 4 year old (soon to be 5) starts up in the winter.

My 7 year old got his blue belt tongiht. He has a huge smile on his face after he got it. It was cool to see him so happy.

Congrats! Thats great, its a good solid style, no flash. Vance has some good points for down the road. What he is learning now will serve him well in many different arts. More parents should encourage their kids like you have.

I agree JMosh. I try to make sure that my boys understand some of the things that I had to learn the hard way. Discipline and hard work seems to be missing in today's younger folks. I am doing my part to make sure my youngun's and repsectful and prepared.

I remember my buddies making weight man that was brutal. My one friend would wear a wet suit and go running. I had to pick him up on my dirt bike a couple times because he was down for the count.

Way to go. You hit the nail on the head. With that comes responsability, with responsability comes a feeling of independance. I think the thing thats missing in so many people these days is the ability to be responsable for their own welfare. Police, doctors, and firemen are all great, but what can you do before they get there?
