380 is my minimal carry round...and only when we can't carry a more powerful alternative.
We both have Ruger LCP and wouldn't part with them for any reason. They're ammo sensitive but after determining what they like ... Haven't had a single malf. They're tiny and can be concealed easily. I also love my LCP when I am in shorts and a T-shirt. I carry my LCP with ball only but have been thinking about trying the new copper HP rounds in it as they expand and penetrate well. I've had poor luck with Winchester White Box 95gr FMJ. The little Rugers just won't function with that particular load. Other brands of FMJ haven't yielded any problems. My defensive carry load is Remington Golden Sabers. They've been 100% reliable in every LCP I've tested them in. ETA: I've tried other HP but ended up sticking with the GS.

The only thing that worries me about HP in 380 is the lack of penetration. Do you share that concern or do you believe it is a non issue?

Our Highway Patrol Officers used to carry Golden Sabers as their standard duty load before switching. Not sure what they carry now but it is all 40S&W.

Greaser, Overall I have concerns with a 380, but penetration isn't one of them. I've carried one form of 380 or another since around 1990. They've all consistently penetrated about 8-10" of river bank mud with quality HP ammo.
This isn't ideal, but it is sufficient especially when combined with a Mozambique.

What are your other concerns with the 380?

It's the very weakest (weight x diameter x velocity) round I'd consider for CCW.

Same here but sometimes it is all that will work. Some of the new rounds are helping me trust it they are really cranking up the power factor.

Agreed. I've not found an easier to conceal (and yet trustworthy) last ditch gun than the LCP.

Our department got a call from it's ammo supplier yesterday. He said that he can not find any (the type duty ammo ordered) ammo in 9mm, 40s&w and .223! Don't know how widespread this is, but it MIGHT be a Harbinger of things to come. I guess I'll see how prevalent ammo is at the gun show today. PERSONALLY I am looking for Federal HST3 124gr +P or Speer Gold Dot 124gr. I WOULD get the Federal HST$ 147gr +P though if that was all that was available.

I noticed a distinct lack of duty grade ammo at the gun show yesterday. There was a lot of hand loads and "Paper punchin" loads but very little hi grade stuff. There was a few boxes of Hornaday and Liberty, but in my mind at least the liberty stuff is still an unknown. I'm just not familiar enough with it yet to carry it as a duty/self defense round.

Anybody have recommendations for 10/22 replacement sights? Mine has the factory flip-down rear and gold bead front.
