Hahahahaha thanks guys. They are really hard to find but a local shop ordered 6 of them 8 months ago and they just got them in last week. I shot one of those that was purchased by a guy I shoot with last week. I've never shot so well in my life and considering how rare they are I decided I'd rather have that in my safe than the cash in the bank. Also helps that the shop manager likes me so much that I'm getting a new one for cheaper than the used ones go for online.
I had no intention of every paying that much for a handgun till I put 4 mags through one. When I called the shop and said put on back for me they only had 2 left! Well one now lol

Way to go Mike! Sides, IF for some reason it doesn't work out for you you KNOW you can sell it for more than you paid for it.

That is how I try and buy everything, If I can't flip it for at least what I paid I tend not to go for it.

GD,
Congrats on a nice race gun. I've never once regretting buying the best quality product available to me. I've not always liked the price, but discounting the "chocolate bar law" (law of diminishing returns) you do get what you pay for in firearms. "Bargains" are rarely "bargains" for those who expect a high degree of performance. Please create a review after you've started using it.

The one place I paid for the best and didn't get it was the 1911 realm. I wouldn't take an Ed Brown if you offered it to me for $500. Les Baer is a different story. Brown's reputation precedes him for good reason.

If I used your (outstanding, btw) philosophy my safe would be empty. I'm particular about the quality of kit I have, but am willing to spend whatever it takes to obtain whatever it is I think is the best at that particular moment.

What have I bought lately....

(2) SureFire M600AA Scout Lights (the new AA models)

I'm curious about trying these against my SureFire M600A and M600C (CR123 models).

I will create a thread about this.

I didn't buy it, (gifted by a really good dog) Streamlight Sidewinder compact cr123 light. I LOVE that thing. If I keep using it the way I have I'll have to buy a new battery in a week or so! smile

Getting a Maxped Malaga, a bag to make another personal "Kit" based upon Gary's load out. TWO maxped CCW holster platforms.

I try and buy used whenever I can, it helps a lot. I also do a lot of horse trading which also makes it easier. Also any DIY or repair work that will save me money I jump on.

Got 2 Surefire x300u on the way.
I hope the 2011 works out. It's a quality gun but the 2011 is a finicky little lass that needs everything just to her liking.

The SureFire x300U is a great outdoor WML, but you might want to run some DRY GUN inside drills before slapping one on your bedside gun. Even without eyes adjusted to dark, it will rebound splash with so much vigor you'll see spots (at minimum) and will be totally night blind (at max).

I like 200 Lumen with a focused center beam and large Nav cone. This works well inside and out to about 250 yards (max distance I tested on my farm).

I have and use a variety of lights because like guns "one size does NOT fit all"....

SureFire M600A with KL4 for room clearing rifle;
SureFire M600C with KX2C for general purpose (might be replaced with M600AA after testing is complete rifle);
SureFire M300 with K1XC for GP lightweight builds;
Streamlight TRL-1 C4 and TRL-3 for all handguns.

The move toward 500-600 lumens is being driven by the same people that like to wear black boots and kick down doors. Real world civ applications (short of high risk SWAT action) yields very different results.

Just as I wouldn't use my SCAR HEAVY for CQB...I would not use more than 200 lumens anywhere except the desert.

BTW - I remember when an incandescent 60 lumen WML was considered "the max light needed". 60 was NOT enough, but Americans are a little too obsessed with "mo iz betta".
