Well, a FNH TSR in .300 wsm should be here sometime this week.

I'm already second guessing my purchase as .300 wsm is probably a tad bit overkill. Oh well... wink

Very nice Lazi, while I usually opt for the 7mm win mag the 300 is a very versatile round (probably more so than the 7mm)

The WSM rounds are very interesting, I am a bit old school and prefer the .300Win but I could be swayed... wink

Barn burners are more oomph than I need for the occasional cross-field shot. I see their utility, but can't convince myself I need one yet. Maybe a 338 Lappua....

Oh gosh.... That's a round is cringe firing every trigger pull because of cost.

I got my .300WinM in 1983 (I was 14) and it was my regular hunting rifle right up until @2004 when I built the .308Win up on a Sako action. In reality the .308 probably covers around 90% of all my needs, but the .300 has some looooong legs that I hope to really take advantage of in New Zealand next year.

300WSM is one of those cartridges that has outstanding performance, but I'm with Andy...the 300WM is available everywhere big game is hunted. I'm always worried about "cult calibers" being hard to find later after the newest bestest fastest hottest thing hits the magazine cover.

I also agree with Andy about the 308Win. To my mind, it is about the most versatile round available especially when using a bolt action (that can handle heavier handloads).

This is coming from a guy that fell for the Browning Model 65 in 218 Bee many moons ago mad .

ETA: I also jumped on the 22WMR craze right before the 17 hit the market.
