Gary was talking guns before, Well... 22 rimfire 32acp 38Spl 357Mag 9MM 40S&W 45acp .177 (pellet rifle, I include this because it is a VERY reliable game getter up to about coon or possum size. .223/5.56 .410 .308 20gauge
With the 9MM and 20gauge getting the primary "Social Work"
Versatility I've got. But my main "Go To" guns are
  9MM and 22rimfire 380 32 .308 20gauge
I can do anything I want with those. The others are for "Dang I just found this case of... Ammo" Yeah, right.

One of the city officers was going off duty tonight and as he called in we got to talking about guns. Well one thing lead to another and I told him that IF you were talking about a survival gun only(handgun) and having to defend yourself from people was not a consideration thatI have ONE gun that would best fit the bill. That gun would be my Ruger Single six .357 with the extra 9mm cylinder.
Now bear with me here. 1. SURVIVAL only, people (bad guys) are NOT a worry. 2. Long enough barrel to get some good speed out of the ammo. 3. A gun built to survive about anything, it's STRONG! 4. VERY versatile. You have .357 mag and 38Spl capability out of the same cylinder. PLUS it has the additional 9mm cylinder. SO you actually have the capability to fire three different "Calibers" through the same weapon by doing nothing more than swapping out cylinders. Now IF you were to couple that with a good lever action you would still be able to fire two different rounds, only forfeiting the ability to use 9mm through the rifle.
Now some of you will argue that the 22rimfire would be as good if not better choice. I also could argue this point of view, BUT I feel even though a 22 can kill a deer you would be better served and have more chances of "Finding" ammo for the three calibers listed above as your choices are more varied just broaden the base you can draw from.

Well, then, put me down for my 10.5" Ruger Blackhawk in 44mag. Also shoots 44SPC and I DO have the matching lever action Or put me down for my EAA 45LC/Rossi lever action combo I could also do the Ruger Blackhawk 6" 357, but I have no matching lever action. Maybe someday... Although maybe the BFG 45-70 revolver would be better. I could still pair it with my guide gun

Something about a good single action that just makes you feel John Wayne-ish. Can't help but say things like "pardner," "lil' lady," and "cowboy up" when you hold one.

My experience with the 44mag is its a slow death. Shot one with my lever at 20 yards perfect heart/lung. Still ran 300-400 yards. Not much blood trail either...

My experience with the 44mag is its a slow death. Shot one with my lever at 20 yards perfect heart/lung. Still ran 300-400 yards. Not much blood trail either... I work with a guy that killed a nice 10pt this past season with his Marlin 44Mag lever action. He said it stumbled about 4 feet and fell over dead. He texted pictures from the kill site.
