I want to "edge bleed" the OD with a brown stripe.

Careful not to get a headache over thinking it mate. I have seen a good number of rifles painted up out here by the military, some meticulous jobs on F88s with brushes and multi colours (to match our cams) but the most effective are the SF M4s that were hung in a row on an old clothes like and tan/OD squirted randomly about to do away with black.

Thanks Andy. I like the look of striped khaki / OD and think it turned out well.

I'm trying to decide which to paint next...as I see all of my primaries ending up rattle canned.

When I moved I gave away all of my stencil numbers. I need to buy a new set so I can match my sprayed optics to their host rifle...since serials aren't legible.

That was an experiment for me mate. I bought a new/unused ACH in "Foliage" (so a US contract/issue item) for three reasons, one it was cheap (came with NV mounts, ACU cover etc), it fitted me and, importantly, Foliage Green was NOT the colour that the Australian Military bought, they got Tan and Green. I could not them ever be accused of having a stolen brain bucket. The inside remains the original colour and I sprayed the rest up after some careful applications of tape.

NICE pics and write up Gary. Yeah a "Thread" would be nice to see/read. Oh What do I need to do/watch out for when I replace the pistol grip on my Colt with a nice Blackhawk one.

Keep the magazine well facing up or the little detent that engages the safety will fall out. A small spring will also come out which you'll need to put in the associated recess in the new grip when installing it.
The spring pushes the detent - this makes the safety lever have positive pressure and "click" to safe / fire.
Easy to do as long as you keep the receiver facing up.

OK, so I make sure the mag well opening (and pistol grip "Butt" is facing up. AND watch for the spring to launch itself into outer space.

It won't launch. It will fall out of the grip. It's about 3/4" x 1/16".
