The Ultra line has skeletonized triggers and hammers, amazingly smooth hand-fitted slides, beautiful triggers, target and fiber optic sights, VZ G-10 grips, high beaver tail safety, ambi safety... Just about anything you could want for under $500. They are just sweet guns.

I also once had a Sig P229 in 40 and I really liked it. BUT one of the deacons in our Church really wanted it and offered me $50.00 more than I paid for it (he knew what I bought it for and that I had shot it for about 2 years, qualifying with it) so It became his. ANOTHER gun I wish I had kept.

I once had a Ruger Redhawk (again WAY back in the early 80's) that I really liked. It was a Beast, but shot well. I got an assignment to Japan and when I got back I traded it for a Colt officers Model 45. I shoulda kept it. Sounds like you got the better end of that deal if you ask me!

OK. There is a SIG P220 in 9mm for the same price. It´s a 9 shooter but respected pirtol. I like the 5906 more: it has that 80´s wonder nine glamour! I carried the Sig P220 in 45acp for a duty weapon while playing cop. It was really nice, accurate and all but It just felt a little big in my fat pudgy hands so I swapped it off for something that I can't remember. Getting old DOES have it's drawbacks.

ANOTHER gun I wish I had kept. Aim Surplus just got a shipment of those on Friday. I was to show to get a grade 1 with a rail, but did manage to get a grade 2 with no rail (I hope). Couldn't believe the prices! Hopefully it's a good shooter!

The P220 IS too big for the number of rounds it holds. I had one briefly, and while it was a nice gun, I feel it should have been a double stack dir the amount of room or took up in my hands. Got rid of it... If it's not something I'm comfortable with, away it goes!

I hear you. But for a duty gun it did well. I actually had two different ones, an original (I guess) and a next gen that had a beefed up slide and or frame if I recall correctly.

I personally don't like rails on a handgun. To me they just detract from the looks of a nice piece. BUT after having my Ruger LC9 with the CTC "Integral" lazer sight they can be very nice for lazer or white light mounting. I actually have a TLR1 on my House Beretta PX4 and it is pretty sweet.
