No MAGA hats here Randy... grin

Well...I like the summer off bit! Spent almost all of June in Bulgaria and Romania on a training exercise and enjoyed all of July and still have 2 1/2 weeks off! The job itself is ok- I really care for a lot of the kids and it's nice to watch them grow up.

You enjoying retirement I hope!?

Seeing the world is interesting isn't it Rich. DANG, I was just going to ask you your hat size! grin wink I guess you "Officer Types" get all the breaks! All I ever got off was for 30 days a year. Oh well. grin

Yes, retirement comes HIGHLY recommended by me. AND getting to live like a normal person is nice as well.

Don't get me wrong, I could complain, but it wouldn't do any good. wink We don't have any set schedule we must go by, allowing us to come and go as we please (except for watching the Grand Kids).

AND it gives me more time to browse the interweeb. I've sort of got my eye on a Spyderco Military in Digi Camo. grin

1.1k 62gr Lake City Federal ammo, with a $55.00 mail-in rebate.

Also 3/4 case of 10mm to go with the RIA 1911 CM Ultra in 10mm that I bought myself for my birthday.

Also all the parts minus the barrel for a 6.5 build. Those were acquired over a few months. First heavy metal build.

If anyone has ideas for the barrel (22-24" for a hunting rig that I might try walking out to 1k yards someday) I'm all ears... er... eyes... Ballistic Advantage 22" is nice, but not so much for lugging into the woods or fields. Sucker weighs north of 5lbs for the barrel alone!

I've looked at Anderson and BCA. Anyone have thoughts? I'm not looking to spend $400+ on this. MAYBE up to $300, but $200 (give or take) is my preference. I know I'm cheap smile

Well if you had your employers budget you could always go for a custom built Carbon fiber wrapped super barrel. Hmmm I wonder how a Titanium receiver would work with strategic metal inserts in all the right places? You should check it out Josh.

Oh I forgot. My Spyderco Military came in today! Woo Hoo. It IS a big rascal that's for sure. But it is surprisingly light feeling in the hand and it does handle nice, not as good as the PM2 of course, but by trying out different grips and squeezing it as hard as I could for a few seconds I couldn't detect any hot spot areas. BUT the proof will be in the use of it as a real knife. Oh and did I mention that it completes my "Trifecta" of Spyderco Military "Series" blades. And Yeah I DO like it.

Lest there be any doubt, the Military is officially and fully mine now. YUP, got Spidy bit. I was loosening up the pivot just a tad and then very slowly tightening it back up so there was no blade play and it opened with the Spidy flick (where you use your "You're number one" finger. Anyways, I held it just a little to close to my left index finger when I went to close it and the tiniest little bit of the tip caught me. Man do they send out their blades sharp. But she has tasted my blood and therefore been forever bonded to me. (just like the Para 3 and the PM2). I must be getting clumsy in my old age, or else these knives REALLY want to become bonded to me.
