That 450 is a NICE option. Bolt action and MSRs are readily available. Lever actions are now out there. All they need now is a BFR to round out the circle.

I took my stainless / laminate Ruger 10/22 Target (20" spiral hammer forged hbar) to the range for the second time yesterday.
With a Leupold VX1 4-12x40mm scope, and using a front rest / improvised (towel) rear rest I was printing 10 round 50 yard groups in the 3/4" range.
The scope's clarity / lack of parallax adjustment / lack of magnification inhibited the gun's performance (as well as the moron behind it jerking the bang switch).
However, the biggest problem is ...
IT IS NOT RELIABLE!
I've tried cheap ammo (Remington Thunderbolts, Federal Wal-Mart 36gr HVHP bulk-pack) and "better" ammo like Blazer standard velocity and "much better" ammo like CCI Standard Velocity "Target".
All of them have frequent FTE / FTF.

Could it just need breaking in? Did you try different magazines. As you well know Magazine problems are often the cause of FTF at least. Then again with Rugers rotary magazine that may not be a consideration.

As stated elsewhere, I am NO expert, but I have been around the block some in certain situations. I HOPE that I don't come off as a know it all, and if I ever do I apologize.

I have that same problem with my Henry Lever Action, Gary. It's frustrating to pay for money for what's supposed to be a great product only to have it turn out to be a dud.

Randy, I've tried different magazines, but only a few.
I'll take a "cheap" or "junky" reliable gun over the "nicest" unreliable gun every day.
