Looking to get a 6.5CM barrel made. Sale over at X-Caliber has it coming in about $260 shipped. Trying to figure out what profile to go with. I want a 24" barrel. It will be a hunting rifle that I'd like to take out shooting for distance someday. Who knows if that day will come

I was looking at the HBAR and the SOCOM Heavy. The difference seems to be 0.850 in front and 0.950 behind the 0.875 gas block for the SOCOM Heavy, or 0.740 in front of the 0.750 gas block and 0.980 behind for the HBAR. There's also an SPR that's 0.850 behind the 0.750 gas block and 0.730 in front of it.
I want it to be accurate and not start heating up and stringing after 3 shots so I was thinking on the heavy side... Though the thought of a 4-5lbs barrel makes me cringe a bit--that's kept me from looking at the Ballistic Advantage 22". Is there a good compromise?
I don't think I've got the extra $70 to flute the barrel, though if it makes a big difference maybe I'll suck it up. What sort of fluting would be best?
