While many services served SOS, the Air Force was the only one that used Kobe beef.

Ha ha, that and lack of MANDATORY PT. Before I retired, the ONLY PT requirement was once a year we had to run a mile and a half in a certain time OR walk 3 miles in a certain time. My first 13 years I didn't even have to do that! Yeah I skated.

BUT I have heard rumors that things have changed just a little in the last 25 years.

I just did some research on Air force PT requirements. A new program was instituted in 2004 that replaced the stationary bike requirements. Stationary bike!!! 1.5 mike run, pushups, sit-ups and waist measurement. Must be taken twice a year but if a person scored high enough it can be reduced to once a year. This PT test is supposed to be much tougher than the old stationary bike test. The run is on a track that slopes downward and can be done while seated in a desk chair that is on wheels. At my age (73) I could pass the test except for the run because of my knees. But then I would be on profile and wouldn’t have to do the run. In contrast, the Army requires a 2 mike run with no pit stops.

Boy things HAVE changed. When I was in we had to run or walk on a track. It was MURDER! UP hill the entire time and we had to ford our way across a stream. Man, that was the toughest 3 inches of water I ever had to go through. I almost got carried down stream but caught myself on one of the bar stools at the last second.

OK, Posting this recipe here for the Newbies and to bring it back to the first page so they can find it easier.
COWBOY BEANS (we went the easy route here)
3 Cans Pinto Beans 2 Cans Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes (we used Hunts) 1 Chopped/diced Onion, or you can use dried onion flakes Salt and Pepper to your taste.
Just throw them into a pan or the Microwave to heat them up, and enjoy!

OK, just cause Dan says we should be watchful and helpful, here is the Recipe for Possum Surprise from the original post MANY years ago.
POSSUM SURPRISE. ***
2 heads cauliflower 1 bunch broccoli 1 whole purple onion(we just use half a good sized one) 10 strips (or a pound) if you like bacon, we use a whole pound most of the time 1 cup shredded cheese (we use chedddar and white mixture, but really any kind will work). Mayonnaise to bind.
Cut the Cauliflower FLORETS ONLY from the bunch, and then cut them into small pieces. Cut the broccoli the same way and put both into a mixing bowl along with the chopped purple onion. NEXT, add the crisply fried bacon and the shredded cheese (we use between 1 and 1 1/2 cups), amd then add enough mayonnaise or miracle whip to bind it all together. It really doesn't take as much as you would think. The Mayonnaise of course isn't absorbed, just kinda helps stick everything together.
***WE Recommend using bagged Cauliflower and Broccoli Florets instead of the whole bunch. You don't actually use the "Stems, just the tops". AND we have no idea why it's called Possum Surprise. Just someone in the family started calling it that and it stuck.

I would skip the onion and add carrots.
