Management is over rated.

And overpaid, which is the only reason any one does it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Yeah. That's exactly it. Instead of wasting the last 25 years serving the City of Brunswick and dealing with politicians, personnel, crooked consultants, the EPA, EPD, and lazy whining deadbeats, I could have been learning something fun, like making knives. I should have done this years ago.

It's great to finally find your passion in life no matter when that may be Vic! Strike now while the grinder is hot!

Better yet enroll in a knife making course and see where the path leads you. You have talent! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Great work once again Vic.
You are the Grindmaster Funk to be sure. Nice that you took your time and did such a fine job. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I just assumed that anyone could do this, but maybe not. I just love working with steel. I plan to look into some aspects of the knife-making business at Blade. There should be everything from major cutlery companies to custom knife makers there. I am so looking forward to meeting the makers and designers and representatives. A whole show full of knife lovers! I have never been to anything like this before. I might find a way to supplement my retirement income. If not, I can still have some fun.

Fantastic work Horn Dog!

So what grit did you go up to? 1000? 2000?
Did you also use polishing compound or paste in the end?

I started with 80 grit to remove the rough steel, then 180, 500. Then a light sanding with 15 micron followed by some hand polishing with a miracle cloth.

They are fast for sure. It took me a little while to get used to the speed. I have only used mine a few times. In the case of the choil, it was easy once I figured out that I must go against the direction of the sanding drum or it will get away from me. Do wear safety glasses. The Dremel throws out some serious steel right at your face!
