I'm keeping my "lesser" knives. Some have served me in tough times. Some I just like to look at.

I did also keep any knives that were more special to me than their market value. One day I realized that I was missing out on some better knives I wanted because I didn’t have enough money. And once I got a couple Rats, they were all I used. I ended up leaving the other knives at home. I knew they weren’t as good steel, and I was afraid of damaging them, and not being able to afford replacing them, so I didn’t use them much. So, I decided to sell them so I could buy more Rats that I otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford.

Your approach is as valid as mine, Andy. To each his own. I used to say I would never buy a Ford. I like my F-150. I know folks that only buy "the best". The freedom to have a choice is what is great.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

i agree, we seem to have a different idea as what is best from one person to another.

Let’s make this real simple...no selling products on this forum.

To be honest I do not appreciate the approach that goes something like this..." I just got a great knife and I only paid $20 dollars for it at xyz site". This is an insult to the Yards intelligence. If you want to show the rest of the Dogs your recent scores and purchases, that's cool because that is above board. Including price and location to buy is cheesy and un-acceptable.

There are plenty of sites for selling knives and stuff. I do not support PM'ing people to solicit business of any kind. We have a very unique forum with the Dogs being a close-knit family.

Just so that you know, I get several request per week from people who want to sell or communicate Amway, Pharmaceuticals, Oil Treatment, Hair Growth as well as deliever Religious messages because the Dog would benefit from it...not going to happen.

Therefore, I would ask you and the rest of the Dogs to respect what we have built here and work any business over at the other sites.

Thanks for understanding
Dan

Well, “someone” could always start a second forum that we could all join specify for the purpose of selling/trading with each other. Like for instance a Yahoo group or something like that. That way there’d be no fees like BF, and it could be limited only to forum members if so desired.

oy... this forum is about appreciating knives, can't we just leave it at that?

there are plenty of places to buy knives out there and nobody is entitled to a lower price just because they belong to forum x or y. if someone wants to sell a knife, chances are they'd like to make a buck off of it and aren't too concerned about who it goes to. flipside, i've seen many a person satisfied by just mentioning here that they'd like a certain blade, and THAT is community.

Yeah. I like that. What would be involved in setting something like that up, Andy?

It could be set up in a few minutes. I used to be a mod on a yahoo group. I could set it up if enough people would be interested in using it. You’d have to have a Yahoo account sign in username. You can also set it up when you join a group (if you want) to have it email the postings to your email address so you don’t have to visit the site to read postings. You can have it email you posts individually, or once a day as one multi-post message.

Ok, I quickly set something up. If anyone wants to use it to offer something for sale they can, if you don't care, you don't have to use it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
