LOL, I remember Back packing in the Army. All fun and games every day.

At least Randy went ultralight with a 40 pound ruck.

I went on a hike with my son's Scout troop years ago with packs, and one of the kids just about fell out. I ended up carrying my own pack as well as his, but I was not 14 years old. That evening when we all sacked out in the open floored big tent I was awakened by a poor freezing kid whose mother sent him out with one of those bags you sleep on the living room floor. That night the temperature dropped down to 18 degrees! I put him between my son and I and covered us all with a wool blanket and we all slept soundly.
That was along the BlackHawk Trail in Illinois.

Good afternoon folks. Taking a short break from mowing; it's HOT out there!

It's hot here already as well Tom, and it's only 0730! AND muggy too. Yeah I was 14. They weighed each boy and then loaded up their packs according a percentage of their body weight, and it MIGHT have been 45 pounds.

Looks like we may have a storm or two moving in later, so I guess we will just goof off today.

Well, so far no storms, but it's still possible for overnight. However, it's still going to be hot and humid.
