That’s just the Russian term for deception. Deception has been used in warfare for a long time. You were around when the Trojan horse was utilized. The most well known recent one I can think of at the moment was General Patton’s phantom army that was created in England to fool the Germans into believing that the Allied invasion was not going to be in Normandy.
