I think that the cut that Busse uses on the Micarta feels very soft and fabric-y. I can feel individual little fibers when I run my finger across the grips. Soft to the touch, not soft like I can squeeze it Ranger Micarta feels similar to me also, nice and "soft" to the touch.
Ontario RAT micarta doesn't feel soft to me.
Just my opinion. OK, I kinda understand now. Since the only knives I have that are micarta are Busse, Swamp Rat, and Ranger I guess I'm used to SOFT micarta.

Dice looking at your earlier comment I think Dan did a Badger version.. He called it the S6! It might be of some help to potential buyers to show the relative sizes of these blades. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SS4008.jpg)

(For the lap dogs!) Hah! I wasn't trying to show off my Third World customizing attempts, just the relative sizes. BTW, I'm leaving the SS4 as is. How can one improve upon perfection?

Your third world customs are very yard HD, take a well deserved bow! I agree with your SS4 summary- best small knife I've ever seen (and I own one woo-hoo!)..

Very nice knives, Vic!
But I got to ask... what happened to the DM?

But I got to ask... what happened to the DM? Ah, yes, the DM. That was my first attempt to do a satin finish with my belt grinder. It was not my original intent to change the shape of the blade, but in the process of trying to get a full convex grind from the top on a very thick blade, I removed too much steel from the edge. It cuts very well, though, but it doesn't look like a Dumpster Mutt anymore. I did a much better job on the HRLM. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SS4011.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SS4010.jpg)

He called it the S6! Yeah, but the S6 is thicker (.28?) and is full height grind, the Badger is only 3/16 and the grind stops about 1/2" below the spine. I have an Ontario RAT5 in 3/16 which is full height, and in comparison I really like the thickness near the spine on the Badger (and the INFI of course!!)

Diceman, valid points I was mainly thinking that both the Badger and S6 were medium sized, edc, great all-rounder users!

I hear ya Paul - I agree w/ that too. I think I'm set on medium sized knives (and choppers too!), but if Dan made a thinner 5-6" blade I'm sure I'd snag one!

Hmm, at that size a fast fighter could be good.. A yard (shorter) M7?
