The plant manager sent a company wide email saying they already have plans in place to keep up with customer demand if we would initiate a work stoppage. Funny thing is it’s company policy to lock us out if we vote down the first contract presented to us. They won’t let us work under a contract extension of the old... so they will create the stoppages not us.

Also nobody union or salary has a clue how they could meet demand without us. The skilled labor shortages and the specialized processes, certifications, and skills we have at our facility means it would be very difficult for a scab labor force to work. Especially with making military and FAA controlled parts

The only complaint I have with unions, most of the time, is they price and benefit themselves out of a job. Not saying they’re bad, but that sometimes the goals are to aggressive. Sometimes smaller goals renegotiated more often would be a better way to ultimately get what you want. Then again I’ve never worked where unions have been.

I have mixed feelings about unions Their goals of better pay, safer working conditions, etc. are admirable. However, I have seen all too often where union workers will deliberately break machinery, cause overflows halting production, harassment or intimidation of non union employees, and other problems. They protect problem causing idiots and help them keep their jobs when in fact they should be fired The violent and destructive acts during strikes are not acceptable to me. Negotiations are the way to handle things, not violence.

So I don’t see anyone destroying equipment or scraping parts on purpose nobody is intimidating contractors or salary workers we get align pretty well at the site. The union atmosphere here is very relaxed it’s nothing like the unions at The automotive plants or other ones. We absolutely got screwed last contract with pay increase that hasn’t kept up with inflation and we ended up have to pay 2x the amount for insurance with less coverage. I think we have honest grounds to strike also considering the treatment of employees during the last 2 years of the pandemic.

Sounds like pretty good reasons, but remember that companies are also affected by the pandemic ; many have flat out folded. If the company is raking in huge profits and the "fat cats" are making ridiculous bonuses then it sounds like it's time to take care of the folks who make it all possible ... the employees . wink

I agree from my first hand experiences also. There's nothing violent or aggressive about the ibew I'm in. Years back I heard stories of scabs getting lit up trying to cross the lines though but most used common sense and went home.

So I’m a division of Raytheon technology. We found out a few weeks ago that our site over $450,000 in awards was given out at our site and that most of it was middle to high ranking salary. When we got laid off they took government stimulus money and stimulated their banks accounts. Low ranking salary took a pay cut and we got laid off....
