He said he shot the huge animal eight times with a .50- caliber revolver and chased it for three hours

Yep.....I think he needed a bigger gun

WOW that would be impressive for a grown man much less an 11 year old. The negative comments were a bunch of idiots. I don't approve of some types of hunting like bear baiting because there is no sport in it but this had a little to much sport. Feral hogs are scary animals at 300 pounds and are smart and dangerous.
A 1000 pounder by a kid with a handgun is more David and Goliath. The fact that they tracked it even though it was very risky was I think the right thing to do.
I like how the site said the kid was looking for a big shotgun and hoping dragons are real.

The pic was not photoshoped as it had been verified by an independent reporter.
I would have wanted a dangerous game rifle like a 375 H and H or one of those new CZ safari rifles.

Something on the order of this from SSK should do it.

One of the Big Boys. A 50 Alaskan 750 with a fish gill style Arrestor Brake, 600 grain bullets at about 1600 fps.

It's also available in 458 winchester magnum <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

If I had to use a handgun on a beast like that I think I would use the five-shot Maxine BFR in .45-70 Goverment with the 10" barrel.

OK I could go with that

Loaded with GARRETT'S 45-70 +P HAMMERHEAD 420-GR SUPER-HARD-CAST GAS-CHECKED bullets AT 1650-FPS <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

GARRETT'S 540-GR SUPER-HARD-CAST GAS-CHECKED HAMMERHEAD's AT 1550-FPS would be even better but you can't load them in the BFR only in Marlins, Sharps and Ruger #1s.

It took 16 shots of .500 and W so I would want lots of big rounds.

Holy.....
Man, what a monster. It amazes me that beasts that big are trotting around in the woods, as I type this.

Bigger, and not a hoax:

Taking more than one shot just shows you can't aim.

Normally I would agree with you about taking more than 1 shot but when it is 1000+
pounds of wild boar and your an 11 year old with a (admittedly large)handgun 16 seems reasonable. I also think if you do not get it first shot that tracking it like the kid did is the right thing to do. Still imagine one of those wounded and angry and charging through a suburb.
