Just back in the door from my mini backpacking trip. I ended up clearing camp, gathering wood, cooking dinner...then decided to pack up and head home. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Only managed to snap 3 pictures.
I am the maker of the sheath. I've made a few sheaths for other knives but this is my first one for a res-c handled knife and it presents a few unique problems. Normally I would set the sheath to grip the knife on the choil, thumb ramp, and the first handle tube/screw if it had one. This works great for my nimravus and HRLM whose handles are not vulnerable to abrasion. I flared the mouth before trimming it just to get a feel for how grabby the res-c is on the way in... Taping the res-c would have been a good idea but its a little late for this one. I'll keep it in mind for the scrapper6 though. The sheath is just roughed out at the moment and need some more sanding/smoothing.

As for the rust: I do have a strop, felt side loaded with chromium oxide and the leather side loaded with boron carbide. A few minutes on the strop only served to remove the very small spots. I'm not worried about it, and after some chopping its almost completely gone (except the tip and deepest bits), but I will have to take a little extra care with sr-77.
Edit: That david hasslehof melon head is the funniest thing I've seen all week.
