Yes Randy, reciprocity with Missouri for Oklahoma and Texas. I would have liked to have flown there but I don't have your money. On our road trips we like to say that we're going places and eating things. (Three Stooges line)

Last night I tried an MRE from a batch that I just bought to see how it tasted. It’s funny but the MREs that I ate while I was in the Army tasted better. Either my memory is faulty or I was a lot hungrier back then.

We never had MRE's,, just C-rations and a few "long rations" (freeze dried) when we were in the mountains, which I thought were great after eating C-rations all the time. It's one of the reasons I can appreciate Mountain House freeze-dried meals now.

I agree, Tom. The LRRP rations were very good. I had to Google that. They must be the ones that I remember. Hey give me a break. That was over 50 years ago. The Army also gave us C rations from 1948 (!) and the Korean War that were not so good. As a contrast, I sometimes ate at an Air Force mess that was 10 times better than our chow hall.

When we came out of the "bush" we went to our rear area, which was a combat base. They had a chow hall there that was a nice break from the C-rats. We pulled a couple weeks of bridge security at Liberty bridge that was great; they had a chow hall and make do showers. Yes, time flies as that was more than fifty years ago.
