I haven't had cable/satellite TV or even an antenna for the past 4 years. I thought it might be nice to get the local channels so I picked up a digital antennae and hooked it up yesterday. Nope, I wasn't missing a thing. The bonus is I can get the local news. But ABC, CBS and NBC have zero interest for me. The only thing I miss from cable is the History Channel and Discovery Channel.

Good morning M/B.. The biggest gripe I have with cable / satellite channels is that in order to get the handful of channels you want you have to get the "premium" package, thereby subsidizing all the other channels you DON'T want.

You nailed it. Plus I don't miss the huge bill for cable/satellite when I only watch a few channels.

We don’t even have TV. We DO have internet though. It provides us all (along with our phones for weather alerts) the world info we need. For everything else I just carry a gun and keep my head on a swivel.

I'm going to fire up my smoker and try my luck at a brisket today.

It's my first try at smoked brisket. I picked up a 4lb flat cut at the butcher the other day. Hopefully it will work out. It should be about a 6 hour cook for one this small.

Cooked a rack of St. Louis ribs yesterday in the oven. Took about 3 hours. Not quite as good as smoked but still fall off the bone delicious. At least it’s something I can still do. I made some sweet tea also with lots of ice because I got hot and sweaty watching my wife cut the grass.

I’m sure the tea was really refreshing after all that strenuous watching.

Just don't strain yourself Ray, and make sure you drink LOTS of iced tea while supervising your wife.
