Haha, no thermal device for me. My belly gives me enough of a bulge under my shirt as it is. Laser, nah. I don’t really like them except maybe on a shotgun, maybe. You can send me yours and I’ll try it out till Christmas. Then you can just give it to me as a nice present. I DO have at least one shotgun with a Picatinny rail on it.

Randy, are they actual government MREs or commercially produced ones? If real government issue, the date on the package is the date of manufacture not the expiration date. If stored at the temperature you indicated, they would be good for about 5-10 years. So yours are kinda at the tail end of their usefulness. So you could try one but have your phone in your hand with the speed dial set for your local rescue. Probably not that bad though. If it were me I would just go ahead and taste one. But I also once teased a buffalo face to face.

Sorry, Randy. I don’t have any lasers. Never saw the need for one. I also don’t like having to depend on batteries for my sighting system. I only have one red dot sight on a fun gun. But I do like 1-5 scopes.

They are actual government MRE’s I think. They are marked HEATER MEALS EX. AND I just found a stamp under a sticker that says please use by 2013! We actually tried them in 2020 and we didn’t die, but 9 years…?

Randy, as far as I know, government MREs never have “use by” dates. I looked up HEATER MEALS EX and they sell commercial MREs. From what I can find out old MREs that are properly stored over time lose taste, texture and nutritional value. If the bags are not damaged or bloated, they may be safe to eat. I have a couple of cases of commercial MREs and at the end of 4 years I replace them. I ( because my wife refuses) start to eat the old ones. I think I would avoid eating your church’s MREs.

I think i might open up the case (12 meals) and try one meal. But if after just a small tiny taste if it seems “off” the whole case goes to the landfill. BTW, they aren’t really the churches. The city didn’t have any storage space for them and asked if we did (backin ‘07). 52 cases still in the closet.
