We’re supposed to have mid 80’s and T-boomers here today. Oh and good morning dogs.

I just read an interesting article. It stated that the Air Force is reinstating a policy of carrying rifles during basic training to give the trainees a “warfighter mindset,” After a weapon familiarization course they will be issued inert rifles with red tipped barrels that actually look like paint ball rifles. I guess they don’t trust trainees with real weapons.

I really don’t blame them Ray. While I was in Japan I “disarmed’ a Lt, that was “playing” with his issued revolver. After my boss called me on the carpet and I explained why I did it, he went to the Lt. boss. The Lt got reprimanded and wasn’t allowed to carry a firearm any more.

Good morning Yard. Looks like we're going to get stormed on pretty soon, although we could use the moisture. Glad I got the mowing done yesterday. smile

How long ago was that? The Army has used semiautomatic pistols for over a hundred years?

The Air Force was still using Pistols I THINK until sometime in the late 80’s. I remember the MP’s in Japan were issued the Berettas around ‘88. But they kept revolvers in inventory for a bit to issue in extenuating circumstances. I think the incident was around 89, or 90 at the latest.

When I was on my R&R in Japan in 1969 a few of us were sitting in a bar with our "associates" when a couple of Japanese police strolled in just checking on things. I noticed their fists looked like they could put them through a brick wall ; I doubt many folks tried to fight with them. smile I don't know about the Chair Force, but the Marines carried .45 autos. wink

Good morning Yard. We dodged the storms last night but it will be another hot and sticky one today. Other than picking some fresh veggies we're going to limit our time outside today.

We had a quite impressive light show last night starting around 12:30 that lasted for about 3 hours. Nothing bad though. It’s supposed to storm again here later today.
