Getting some hot weather again. High of 78° today. I just roasted some Costa Rica La Pastora coffee beans. I’m slowly working through a 10 pound sampler that I received from a new supplier.

Good evening folks. We enjoyed a nice relaxed day today, but with nicer cool weather this weekend we will be working outside.

Out of curiosity I just checked my brewing ratio. I use 24g of ground beans to 566g of water. In your opinion Ray, is that weak or fairly good?

LOL, I'm a heathen. I just use two heaping scoops of coffee and a pot O'water. The spoon doesn't stand up but you aren't going to see through it.
 Morning yard!

I think we are mostly done with the heat here on to milder weather. If I can motivate myself today I'll start reroofing a storage shed today.

Afternoon It has been a productive day so far. I got the old roofing shingles removed and cleaned up. I got all the old nails and staples off the roof. I'm going to take a little break and get the tar paper up and stapled down. I might even get a start on putting some new shingles up. I have never done roofing tiles before. I figured getting the old roof off would be the hard part. It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. A flat bladed shovel did the trick pretty quickly. Plus there is a pretty heavy pitch on most of the roof. Definitely safe from the Secret Service

LOL, PK

I got the tar paper up. So far it hasn't been too bad a job.

After church tomorrow I'll probably mark my chalk lines and start nailing down some shingles.

Then on to the next project I can get done before the leaves start falling.

Out of curiosity I just checked my brewing ratio. I use 24g of ground beans to 566g of water. In your opinion Ray, is that weak or fairly good? The SCA's (Specialty Coffee Association) guidelines to achieve the Golden Cup standard is 1:18. One gram of coffee to 18 grams of water. So 24 g of coffee would use 432 g of water. So your ratio would be on the weaker side. But the ratio is just a guide. Use what tastes the best for you. I like strong coffee so I use 18.5 g of coffee for 200 g of water. About twice as strong as yours.
