Haha, I’m not sure a shot of Whisky will help the Husky MB, but it will probably bolster your nerves for the bill! 😉

Picked up some water filtration devices (Lifestraw and Sawyer) and looking at the GRAYL GeoPress 24 oz Water Purifier Bottle. Trying to decide if it’s worth $100.

Ray, the filtration devices are a great idea. ; I have several different types myself. Water is the one thing folks MUST have to live.

I ordered a generator as backup power for the house. An 11,400/9,200 watt Firman gen set.
After our 5th or 6th power outage so far this year I'm leery of going another winter without a better plan.

Good move M/B. Over the years I have acquired four generators myself, one a duel-fuel and one an inverter type for more sensitive equipment. Just make sure you have good fuel and stabilizers on hand.

The main reason was I was buying from Costco. It was between Generac and two different Firmans, in the price range I was looking at. The one I ordered was the same wattage as the Generac but It had a direct 50amp hookup that the Generac didn't have. Same, exact price. It comes with a 3 year warranty and Costco backs their stuff pretty well so I can get another generator fairly easily if I have a problem.
There are definitely better generator sets. But for a portable 11400/9200-watt gen set that I can run 240 stuff off of, without adapters it was a winner.
Especially since the main usage will eventually be powering a shop I plan on building in a Conex.
I couldn't touch a Honda in that price range. I went for the best bang for the buck. Firmans have rated pretty well online and they were building Rigid and Kohler generators before they slapped their own names on the side.

I figured you had done your research.
So, with our small (1250sqft) house with a combined outside unit (ac/heat, scaled for put house size) along with a 25sqft fridge/freezer, a 10cuft deep freeze that thing should power our whole house?

It would depend on your AC/Furnace.
The gen set I got runs "dirty" electricity. It's hard for me to explain but it's not good for sensitive electronics. So I won't run the stove or computers off of it. I probably won't even directly charge my phones from it. They can fry the motherboard. I had a bad 240V socket in the house and it fried the motherboard on my oven about every 6 months until I had it replaced.
I will only turn on the breakers for my microwave, fans for my natural gas fireplaces and a few lights/outlets and my freezers and refrigerator. Figure around 800 watts per fridge and freezer then whatever
