Evening Yard!
We had another power outage today. I know we have had at least 4 outages at our place so far this year. 1 was about 24 hours and it was still winter. It's time to start looking for an electrician who can install a manual transfer switch for a generator. I need to budget for a bigger gen set. Which works for me anyway. I want to get a 20ft shipping container to make into a shop. Technically the back of my property is s separate address. If I use a gen set I won't have to pay the man for an electrical hookup and a meter. I'll bypass that particular Gov tax and have a gen set big enough for the house. Plus a movable shop.

Morning Yard!
Another beautiful day. I was going to fell a tree in front of our house. I limbed it up to about 20 ft yesterday and then noticed it leaned towards the house a bit more than I liked. I attached a rope and was thinking about just pulling on one side while I sectioned it down. But I have since slept on the thought and it may very well need someone with more experience and better equiped than me to do it.
I think I'll call around and get a bid. If it's less than my homeowners insurance deductible that may be the route to go.
Don't worry, I still have plenty of work around the property to keep me busy. I have at least 3 more trees to drop. Those are pretty easy drops though.

I have used a rope tied up about 20 feet in the tree and then tied to the back of my tractor. A truck would work also ; once you have made the initial three cuts in the tree the vehicle pulling should help guide the tree falling in the right direction. A second person in / on the vehicle would allow you to make the final cut before backing away a safe distance.

Good morning Scrap Yard. Today is supposed to be nice like yesterday so we might pick some more green beans and cherry tomatoes.
