It’s good to be very careful about not shooting the 300 ammo in a 5.56. I remember reading some horror stories about that in the 300 forums years ago. I use a different color magazine for my 300 and when I go to the range. I bring only the 5,56 or the 300. I never bring both caliber guns at the same time.

Oooooo. Suppressors is NICE!
Just got back from the range. Even using Supers, NO BOOM, just the supersonic crack of the bullet going down range.

SUBS grin Awesome. Can hear the action cycling and then the bullet hitting the dirt backstop at 50 yards.

Shot a half mag of supers with no ear protection. All you hear is the supersonic crack going away from you. I think you could shoot all day (out in the open) with supers and you wouldn’t really be hurting yourself.

Shot a full mag of Subs. NO PROBLEM. Round hitting the berm was about as loud (if not more) than the round firing and the action cycling.

ME HAPPY PUPPY. grin

Sounds like you had some fun. I think the 300 Blackout was designed to be shot with a suppressor and sub sonic rounds. Now I guess you’ll be putting whisper pickles on all your weapons.

I’ve heard a couple theories on 300blk.
1. Designed for CQB, short and bigger hole than 556 while being designed to be quieter.
2. Not AS much as to be quieter, but to reduce the fireball when fired.

I think the above twofer explains it pretty well.

Took Miss Piggy to the range again yesterday. Got her an acceptable sighted in with 125gr Supersonic loads along with Hornady Subsonic 190gr X sub and their 208gr subs as well. They’re all shooting within about an inch of each other and I can live with that. I actually can’t see OR shoot much better than that with an RDS. I know this is only at 25 yards but I’ve also tried 50 and will do more 50 yard shots next time. This 300blk is really quiet with my Suppressor. ME Like. grin
Based on many reviews and YouTube videos I’m gonna go with the Hornady Subsonic SUB-X 190gr loads as my primary suppressed (in the gun) ammo. Feeds just fine and has shown expansion up to .480. Hey, at least it does expand. And I’ll be able to use their 208gr Sub load as a backup.
For my Supersonic loads I’m sticking with AAC 125gr Saber Black Tip ammo. My gun likes it and it will make a good deer load.
Now all I gotta do is zero in the DTS at 50 and 100 yards and I’ll be all set. grin

I have never fired the 300 BLK ; how does it compare to the 7.62 x 39 as in the SKS ?

I don’t really know as I have never shot the 7.62-39 round but I am guesseng a bit more as it is a faster round. BUT to me, it recoils less than my 5.56 Colt 6721 Carbine and Savage MSR-15. I REALLY like shooting the 300blk. Softer recoil, less noise(even without the can) I think. And with the can on it, even Supers aren’t bad. All you hear is the supersonic crack as the bullet goes down range. And the Subs, I swear the action cycling is louder than the round going off, and at even 25 yards distance you can still hear the bullet slap the backstop.

Just maybe something to put a smile on your face, or perhaps a shake of your head. Either way just to help you forget life’s woes if only for a couple minutes.

Voted the Poster boy for the "Old Geezers Guard" recruiting campaign. wink The best of the best (in our own minds). grin SOMEBODY has to guard what remaining liberty we got left before "THEY" send all the able bodied off to another unnecessary "conflict".

The new "Old Geezer Guards" are great for this. We don't have a job we have to report into, we don't (OK, can't) run, our attitudes already stink and our numerous ache's and pains makes our tempers short.
What Better guardians of our glorious country than a bunch of pissed off tired Old Geezers. Fearless in battle, unforgiving to the enemy and still believes in ammo conservation (one shot One kill).
WE. ARE. MANY. (Most of us can still see good enough to shoot our enemies (long as they ain't more than a hundred, hundred fifty yards away).

JOIN the OGG and make your liberal friends think you're nuts! confused

Hee hee, sometimes it's just fun to make a totally mindless statement (or statements) and slowly walk off into the sunset.

Even if the only reaction you get is someone shaking their head, at least you took their mind off Their Worries for a couple minutes.

We need to laugh. Even if it’s at ourselves

Thank you for your support. grin

Hey at least it gives them something to do besides play tidily winks all day long. And I’m really all not that hard to find. I mean I’m always going to the same places. Church, Doctors office, hospital, pharmacy, grocery store and oh yeah, gun stores. grin

WOO HOO! Just scored a good source for 300blk ammo, beats the next lowest price I found by 3-4 dollars for the Hornady 190gr Sub-X ammo. If you’re interested PM me.
