- 1) Feist (a small dog developed in the rural southern United States for hunting squirrels and other small game)
- 2) Bull Terrier (or perhaps one of the other Terrier breeds)
I considered Cur as a general purpose hunting dog, although that would be more appropriate for something a bit larger since they're > 30 pounds. Feists and Curs are not "show dogs", and because this is an LE, maybe one of the Terriers, like a Bull Terrier would be more appropriate. If you want to emphasize the Busse Combat relationship, the Afrikaans name for a Bull Terrier is "Varkhond" (Pig-dog).
