I may be getting more cynical and ill natured with age (i,m 36)or perhaps it's working as police officer,but I would like to know if there seems to be a distinct lack of common sense used in the USA or is it just in the U.K that people have stopped thinking and try to blame everybody and everything else for their stupid thuoghtless actions

my $0.02, the gap of stupid and smart is growing. in the old days more people were street smart and had a fair amount of common scence. today a larger portion of people fall to one side or the other. and go deeper in to in to the left or right field.

i've definitely seen more blame thrown around in the last ten years than people actually taking responsibility for their actions. it is an odd society that is developing.

I am working in Glasgow Scotland and live just outside of it
And I am cheered up that it's not just in my country and it's not just me that feels this way

I always thought odd that the police force of Great Britian or The United Kingdom was the Scottland Yard.

laws seem to be getting a little bit out of control and i think that it is being pushed by people who want to blame others. it used to be that two kids get in a fist fight on the playground and the school dealt with it. now law enforcement gets involved and kids in high school get charged with assault. IT WAS A FIST FIGHT!!!

or my little brother who, when he was 8, kissed a girl in his class without her "consent." no tongue or anything, the kid was 8! the parents of the girl threatened to charge my brother with sexual assault!

there are more than one teenager running around right now having to register as sex offenders for things they did before they even knew what sex is or what it is to aroused by a female.

I may be missing some big facts or some historical background, but why not name your police force after your own country?

It is the idea that we are all in need of Big Brother to guide us in all things.
We are all "victims" of some social, economic, or biological inequality. Only our beneficent rulers can even the playing field of life. We are mindless cattle and not at all responsible for our actions. We were born poor and are uneducated. We were abused as children. We need a police state to monitor us with cameras at every location, so we won't lapse into some savage behavior. Some of us are too "male". We need to be drugged into passivity to stifle any aggressive or competitive impulses we might have. All notions of independence or separation from the collective must be denounced and condemned by right-thinking people. All of Western civilization accepts these truths.

Scotland Yard is the home of the METROPOLITAN POLICE who deal with LONDON and surrounding areas most of the U.K police are divided on regional boundaries and funded by central government and local government
