It is the idea that we are all in need of Big Brother to guide us in all things.
We are all "victims" of some social, economic, or biological inequality. Only our beneficent rulers can even the playing field of life. We are mindless cattle and not at all responsible for our actions. We were born poor and are uneducated. We were abused as children. We need a police state to monitor us with cameras at every location, so we won't lapse into some savage behavior. Some of us are too "male". We need to be drugged into passivity to stifle any aggressive or competitive impulses we might have. All notions of independence or separation from the collective must be denounced and condemned by right-thinking people. All of Western civilization accepts these truths.

Speaking of cultural differences, I got a letter from my 13 year-old daughter's principal yesterday concerning her performance on some tests. I think she did well, but since the letter is written in Spanish, and my Spanish is not that great, I am not sure! I don't know why I did not get an English version. I guess I need to brush up on my Spanish, if that is the language that official school communications are going to be written in now. Linda is dark (both her mother and I are a small part Indian). Maybe her principal thought she was Latino.

I am not at all insulted by the letter. I think it was a just a mistake. I think an English version should have been included. I am continually insulted by the racist bias that has been shown by this predominantly Black school toward the White and Hispanic students and their parents for the last three years. I am hopeful that the new pricipal can reverse this culture that glorifies criminals and belittles those who strive to achieve. Thankfully, Linda has finished there. She survived it with honors. Time for her to move on to High School, where things are marginally better. She is a year ahead of most 13 year olds. I am very proud of her.
