I find it hard to invest in any other cutlery product that is not apart of the Busse family, I have an opportunity to buy a knife off of a buddy, it is a Fehrman knife and he is only asking $150.00 for it. The steel used is CPM 3V, which I've heard is a good steel, but its not a Scrap Yard, Swamp Rat, or Busse Combat.
I have owned a variety of blades over the years, all ranging from AUS 8, 154CM, VG10, CMP S30V etc...and I have been using to the Busse family knives for a fairly short time, but have been very happy/impressed with their quality and performance.
I'm not sure what to think about the Fehrman name/CPM 3V, anyone have any experiences?
Still do not own any Busse Combat's yet, one day a FBM will be mine!! But a Dog Father will definately hold me over I have Fehrman knives too and they are excellent. But I use my SYK more than any others now. When you consider the cost difference. You absolutely can't beat the SYKs!

Final Judgement, Shadow Scout, Last Chance and Thru-Hiker neck knife. It is the 9 1/2inch model, I believe it is the final Judgement, new they go for $350.00, and I honestly dont know if it would even out perform a Scrap Yard at a fraction of the price. If I spent $350.00, you better believe it will say Busse Combat on it, I have seen some pretty amazing things done to/performed on those knives, can anything else go through that and come out smiling?? I dont know if the Fehrman is worth $350.00, but in mint condition $150.00 may be doable, or I'll just save that for my DF LE when Dan sends that down the line??

You can always sell it and by a couple of SY knives if you don't like it.

You can always sell it and by a couple of SY knives if you don't like it. I have found some steels like s30v to have superior edge holding. my almer and spyderco are very nice. I don't know about 3v but I do beileive it would hold an edge mush longer than sr77. I like to use knives from a variety of steel. I would realy like a scrap yard edc in ats 34 for that reason. better edge holding and corrosion resistance. but a mid sized to large syk rocks.

I agree scrappy, sr77 for big tree-beaters and ATS34, INFI or D2 for little knives.. They don't need the strength but do need the corrosion resistance for skinning etc etc..

I've been really impressed by S30V in pocket knives. I like it better than ATS-34. Seems to hold an edge longer and easy to strop to hair popping sharp.
