I really like that fenix L2D Cree, but everyone seems to have it for the same price, lighthound, fenix store, etc; anybody know of a good place or another recommendation/suggestion?

I like the 2 AA's and I'm looking for light weight and durability, (camping, hiking, outdoor stuff). For now I'd like to keep it around or under 50 bucks, later I'll get up there! thnx all

I'd always go for a headtorch over a handheld....lot better for hiking and around the campsite !!!

I have a couple of Petzl models, a Black diamond model and a Princeton Tec !!!

For hiking you can not beat the single cell AAA maglite's. I find that anything brighter destroys my nightvision. It was also the lightest & smallest flashlight I could find that is somewhat durable. Then again, I cut the handle off my tooth brush to go hiking to save weight and size. If I am base camping and not hiking it is a 6 cell maglite and a surefire Z2 combat light. Lights are like knives. You need many specialized ones for different jobs.

I would recomend the Fenix. I have the P3D CE and it's awesome and very bright! Fenix makes some really nice lights.

I have used a lot of flashlights (torches) in the course of my work but for value for money and durability I can't beat the maglite with the niteize conversion.I am reluctant to pay out for something that I can drop break or loose as easily as a torch

Have you checked eBay and Froogle?

Yeah, they’re nice except for summer, when you get a face full of bugs.

I wish they’d make one with an LED. A similar size light with longer battery life is the Dorcy 1xAAA. A better quality option is the Arc-AAA.

If you guys haven’t checked it out, I HIGHLY recommend the Maglite 2xAA 3 watt LED light. I too first bought the Nite Ize conversion and thought it was great, until I got the 3 watt LED Maglite. It completely blows the Nite Ize away! I don’t even use my Nite Ize one any more. The 3 watt will run 4+ hours with rechargable Nimh batteries. I carry mine every day, and it’s the best LED light I’ve ever used. The light is very white, with no bluish color like some “white” LEDs.

Best I could find on the Fenix was $53.50. Try the ebay suggestion. You might find one used.
