check out the site called led-replacement.com. I upgraded my 3d and 2aa mag lites and love it! The output is amazing and the battery life is great. Money well spent!

Get a light with multiple levels. My favorite ones have an extremely bright beam when you need it, and a low low that will give you around 10 hours of battery life on a single AA. My favorite light lately is the DX.1 from dealextreme.com. Sapphire lens, HA III, double o-rings on both ends, etc. I have had mine for a few weeks and love it. It has some ridiculous amount of levels (17, I think), but the first two when you turn it on are the most useful. The first is a blinding high, and a soft press will switch modes to a low low. It is currently $45 from them. There are a few other lights on the market now that are very similar, but this one seems to be the easiest to get with the most consistent quality. Plus, you can get a pig shaped LED keychain for $1 from DX.

Fenix lights are OK, but I think there are better ones out there (disclaimer: I like flashlights way more than the average person). They do have about the most efficient circuits of anyone though.

Cheers Mate
As usual you are a great source of info and help.I will see if I can find this 3 watt maglite and more importantly how much it costs I break/lose to many torches at work to spend a lot of my hard earned

They sell them at Target, Walmart, etc. They’re around $20, which is another reason I like them, they’re affordable. If you can’t find them in your area, I’d be happy to do some shopping for you and ship it to you if needed as long as you paid for shipping and everything. Just lemme know.

wow, very interesting 10 days on low setting! (if I was a real cave man )
I will be keeping track of that but the price and special batteries will make me slow! But thank you for the adrenaline blast!!!

Boy I hate that Wally world, but occationally it can't be avoided. I'll have to stop by there and see if I can stumble across that!

I might just learn to love my Mini-mag all over again. Thanks for the info on that!!

I seen them in the camping section where all the flashlights are (so you won't have to be there long!) I know what you mean about that place bro, I think of it like eating bugs in a survival situation, I don't wanna do it but sometimes you gotta! I came real close to getting it (mag + upgrade kit) but for twice the dough I'll get more than 3x the power and duration with a L2D and I like that. I'm moving so I have to wait anyway, save, save, save!

Well I went to Wally World and they didn't have it... I may have found another source at about that price though...
