So I bought a few SS4's in the second release, and got the dreaded email that i would not have my knives, but rather a refund. The problem is that i payed with paypal, and the Scrap Yard needs to follow the Refund procedures or else everyone looses,..

There is an option to return/refund, and if this is followed, the Yard does not loose on fees and neither does the client (me or others who payed this way). Instead, the Yard made a payment to me of the ammount i sent them. This means that on the payment they received they lost $25+ in fees, and if i accept my refund, i will get $25+ less than I sent the Yard. In essence, the Yard and I each end up $25+ short, and PP makes $50+ Not cool. I want my full refund, as i am sure you too (ScrapYard) don't want to loose money with this transaction.

The orders that didn't get the refund properly will be refunded the service fee.
The refund part didn't always come up when posting it.
It will be taken care of tonight.

I hope so,... i want that money in there to put towards a FBM LE to help me mourn the loss, and fill the void left in my heart from the SS4 cancelation.

All settled. I denied reciept the payment to me (so no fees) and Patti was able to refund the origianl amount... so again, no fees.

Thanks ScrapYard. The next best thing to INFIscrappers, is $$ back... now off the bussecombat to see about an LE FBM

yep.. them PayPal folks definitely make their fees don't they!

not sure what advantage PayPal has over paying by CC/Debit card?

someone also mentioned (dunno if on this forum) that merchants also take a hit from the CC companies when refunding customers?

That's one of the reasons that I refuse to use Paypal. I know others will lambaste me forr it, but I've had several bad experiences with them, and I refuse to give them my business.

So true.
But as a Seller(!).. it's pretty much the de facto way to process credit card payments from buyers.

Yeah, I don’t like the crap PP gets away with. As an eBay seller, I accept it because you can lose business if you don’t. But they treat people really crappy, and there’s all sorts of horror stories. Have you seen PayPal Sucks?

I got a full refund but i lost $18 in the currency conversion. I thought i would get a refund at the rate of the actual day of the trasaction, but nooo... the USD had gone down so i got less.

Yeah, I hate the stuff eBay gets away with too. They’re so big they have no competitors, so if you want top dollar for your goods, you gotta do what they say. I think there needs to be a eBay user union or something, where we could all vote and “strike” by everyone not listing if they don’t meet our demands.

And ya know what else? I know a good business idea when I see it. When paypal first came out, I knew it would revolutionize how payments are made on eBay. I emailed eBay and suggested they should buy paypal immediately. They emailed me back and said thanks, but no thanks, we’re not interested. They could have saved millions if they listened to me.

I’m also the one the suggested the sign in feature, and the ability to list in two catagories. I’m also the one that suggested they have a gun category, which they also implemented, but was later pulled after great controversy and ended up in newspaper articals over the issue.

Agreed. it's just weird that Ebay/PayPal don't have any real competition out there! i've seen small wannabes come & go by the wayside.. but Ebay/PayPal still stands tall!

That’s cause the people won’t switch over. They stay were the most people are to get the most potential bidders. But, you can also use that to your advantage. I used to also check out the Yahoo auctions. Since there weren’t as many people, you had less competition when bidding. Especially when you found a really specific unique item that not everyone would want. So, because there were less people, sometimes I’d get better deals. Then, I’d turn around and re-sell that item for a higher price on eBay where more people were and it’d have more exposure. I also did that on a police auction site. I’d buy radio scanners for a low price, and turn around and resell them on eBay, sometimes doubling my money or more. Gotta get your hustle on when you’re broke.
