1)why is he cocking the barrett 82 after every shot in the beginning?

My best guess....They only fed him 1 round at a time, probably for safety reasons. You are correct, it is a barrett M82, which is semi-auto.

When you care enough to use only the best...stick'em with a SKYCO knife.

Some barrets are Bolt ,semi`s and even a bullpup.

I would love a nice bolt action in .300WSM for 1000 meters.
I have a nice Parker Hale which is fine for anything up to 600m.
It also has double the mag capacity of any other centrefire rifle in Canada.
Here all mags have to be pinned at 5 but Enfield`s which can have 10 (Parker Hale`s are based on Enfield actions)and Garands which can have 8.

I liked "Shooter". Thought it was well done. I was very impressed that they took the time to get a consultant to teach him a thing or two. Cant expect perfection from an actor, but it sure makes watching the movie more enjoyable if the mistakes arent so obvious that that's all you end up seeing.

And if you havent seen "collateral" then you should, in my opinion.
Great flick!

We dont go to the movie theater anymore either. Last time I went, some idiots brought 2 small children into a rated R "scary" film and we got to hear one cry and one scream most of the time. Stupid and distracting. Costs too much $$ to put up with that. At home I can enjoy a cocktail and pizza rolls, and dress is optional.

For those that don’t know, “Marky Mark” is a huge anti-gunner. Which is strange seeing as how many shooting roles he plays. I read a quote from him after the Three Kings movie where he said that he was disgusted by even touching the prop firearms.

Most Hollywood types that make millions off of gun related movies are. Hypocritical, but typical.

A long time ago, I read an article in which me mentions owning an 'armory', hidden in his house.
Interesting. Guns for him, none for us?

i watched the "extras" portion of the DVD.supposedly after his second trip to the range & making hits at 1000+ yrds the firearms instructor said he immediately got on the phone & called his buddies saying "hey guess what i just did!!!" & he was a giddy w/ excitement.
maybe his views are changing

the extra section was pretty good. everyone always says they don't like guns until they get to blast away with some live ammo...

or
iv'e noticed i get alot of folks that had something "scary" happen to them or even a neighbor..(ie..someone was robbed, someone knocking on the door late,etc..)
i always tell them.."it's like a spare tire. i'd rather have it & not need it,then need it & not have it." & "just because it(gun or spare tire) have it doesnt mean i go around hoping i get a flat"

The Heat bank scene gets my vote. very rare that they show anyone reload during a firefight let alone carry extra mags and reloading multiple times.

that's my (well one of) complaints with 24. Jack will escape some situation, kill a bad guy with his hands, take his pistol or subgun and just go without patting the body down for extra ammo.
