I hit a major milestone last week. I finally finished off my Scrapyard collection with the final missing knife, a Scrapper 6 LE. And I couldn't have done it without help from my friends here and a few kind strangers.

I promise to ask Santa for a better camera (this picture is from an original VGA camera) but nevertheless here's a complete family portrait:

[Linked Image from img2.putfile.com]

From the left: SS4, Yard Keeper LE, Dumpster Mutt, Scrapper 6, Scrapper 6 LE, Yard Guard, Yard Hook, and da Dogfather.

Can't wait to add a few more doggies to the family!

Nice collection, even I don't have a Scrapper 6LE

Dan

Lew,
That is a VERY impressive family portrait!

If you had to pick a EDC which one would you choose and why?

I respect your opinion and am genuinely curious!
Thanks again Lew,

Great kids, but you are right... you NEED a bigger family.

For an EDC I like the Dumpster Mutt. The basic handle is much less obtrusive for an EDC, and you get more blade compared to overall length.

I know some of you actually carry fixed blades as EDCs. I only strap on a fixed blade if I am engaged in some outdoor activity that will likely require a heavy duty knife. If I am spending the day on my property working it might be a bowie, machete, or Dog Father. For a little walk in the woods, a HRLM, S6, RMD, or SS4 will do. The RatManDu is my new favorite. In town and such, I carry a folder. I guess that the RMD's a micarta version of the Mutt, though. I can see how the DM would be a good choice if you wanted to conceal it. If I carry a concealed fixed blade, its going to be a dagger or bowie.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Peace.

Hi Dave,
Thanks. For a true EDC that I would conceal in a pocket I'd pick the SS4 just based on the size and handle. For a knockin' around the yard/short hike knife I like the Dumpster Mutt. It fits my small hands very nicely and is clearly indestructable. There is nothing I would be afraid to cut/chop/dig/pry with a Dumpster Mutt.

For a multiday camping/hiking extravaganza I'd want the S6 (or LE) and the Yard Keeper. I could baton/chop fire wood etc. with the S6 no problem. The DF is great but I wouldn't want to hike with it. I lugged far too many overweight packs on my way to Eagle scout to finally learn the minimum I need to hike and camp with

I don't like coated knives for food prep/cooking so I'd use the Yard Keeper as my kitchen knife and backup knife if something happened to the S6.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it

Awesome story Lew, and I'd stick to it as well!
I just used my Hook for the first time last week. I owned it for more than a month before deciding on what use it would perform.
I ordered a pan pizza for our favorite store and asked for it NOT cut. When it arrived all settled in and not soaked into the cardboard disk under it I broke out the new Pizza knife the Yard Hook!
Can you imagine Lew no stain on the coating... cut through the crust and cheese like magic! It is just wonderful!

I can't believe I admitted to that.

Love your family Lew!!!!

Peace.

Hi Dave!

Hope things are going well for you. Sounds like a great use for the hook! All we need it a bottle/can opener and the yard will feed us!

Cheers!
Chris
