Gosh I love those H&B's. I want to get my hawk fix like right now though so I will pick up a bare bones CS hawk and maybe a nicer one like the ones from this thread later on. I plan to strip it ,blue it and either change the handle or modify the stock one. Taking a very crude hawk and making it personal is very traditional as well. I may go for the native style brass tacks and carving or a Viking runes one.

Here are some pics of mine. I measured and the handles were 19 1/2". I cut down the shorter one. I have a theory about some of the Ranger hawks. I remember at one time I saw one that had H&B stamped real small on the head. Now I am not claiming to know anything but it appears to me that they have much the same style and I am not so sure that some of the other hawks out there are not made by H&B. [img] [image]http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/8179/hbshawneejp9.jpg[/img][/image] Messer, this brings a tear to my eye! Nice!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> Thanks! for the picture, they look great. Why did you cut the handle down? Easier to control???

I've got a couple hawks but on the CS POS, I like it because I will throw it at stuff I wouldn't throw a good one at. If I screw it up I haven't lost much. I'll get a shot of my meager group later. So far I haven't seen a hawk I wouldn't like to add to my collection. Nice shots!

The idea was to make it a nice hunting hatchet. I always thought the head was a bit big and heavy to go with the handle after the mod though.

I am confused ,I got what looks like a CS norse hawk but it had an "american tomahawk company" sticker on it? Are they the same company? On the other side from the ATC sticker there is a Taiwan logo. I like a little irony in my iron. It is actually a decent hawk other than it is attached to the handle with a allen screw rather than press fitted. I intend to fix that during the project. It will make removing the head to strip and blue it much easier though. It really is a handsome weapon other than the soon to be gone black paint. Even the wood is much nicer than most CS products.

Cold Steel now owns American Tomahawk Company.
