Not only that but.. when i heard the story of HotRodKelly on BF.. finding a Busse knife for $2.00 in a Bargain BIN!!

No way! I always dreamed of finding one at a Goodwill or garage sale or something, but I thought no way you'd ever find a deal like that. Amazing.

I just got the same Lanskey as Paul. It is exellent for finding out what the edge is on your knives and helps you learn what the proper angle is to use even if you do freehand. I have some stones and a pen diamond sharpener and I could sharpen a knife but not set or change the bevel before I got the Lansky.

I just got the Lansky Crock stick turn box. 2 medium sticks in a cute little wood box (very bushcraft..) and it really works!! As a field sharpener it is superb; the round profile on the sticks also sharpens out notches in the blade so you get a smooth draw cut and a razor edge in moments very easily (assuming you have a sensible edge angle on your dog to start with!). If you are cold and tired and need a better edge in the field it would be hard to beat IMHO..

Is there a tutorial anywhere on how to do this?

I really love the whole bushcraft movement you brits have. I have been going on british blades lately to learn more about scandi knives and got interested in bushcraft particularly because we have so much bush where I live. My friends dad is a plumber and owns a piece of land near candle lake about the size of wales.
I am going to find a chunk of land and a little cabin myself in the next couple of years. The laws in the UK are insane though. I was watching BBC news today and there was a shooting of a 15 year old boy and the whole neiborhood was crying about making the police get every gun off the street. What about getting the murdererers off the street? If you can't keep drugs from being smuggled into the UK how do you expect to stop guns? You need to stop the conditions that encorage
crime rather than blaming inanimate objects. Some violent crime is the price you pay to live in a free society.

In the UK only the criminals have guns.. Our gun laws disarm the law abiding and don't deter the crims'. Factor into that that the crims' human rights appear to have more value than the ordinary citizens and you have the 'recipe' for Britain today. Just plain dumb really..

I hope you do build the cabin that'd be very cool! Ray Mears would be impressed..
