I just got back from the local Chinese summer night market. There was a booth in the corner with some kids selling knives and swords. All of the $50-and-under China import variety. I took a look at one that had a cord wrapped handle. It was a long piece of junk, with some kind of star-trek shaped angular blade with strange cutouts in it.

"Nice hunting knife, eh?" the first kid says to me.

"What's this for?" I asked, pointing to a random looking cutout on the blade

"Hunting!" he says. "I dunno, something for you know, hunting."

"Ah, I see. How much is this one? Oh, $25, very nice."

"Yeah, it comes with this 'sanding block' for sharpening too!" Pipes up another kid.

"Ok, cool. What kind of steel is it?"

"Stainless!"

They had enthusiasm, I had to give them that.

Man, my coffee cup is empty already. And it's still raining. So far, this day sucks.

Mowing then work.

Mowing isn't work? Had to preplace my lawn tractor blades, whack weeds, pump up a tire, get groceries for da yoots, pick up down limbs, and mow three acres, only some of which can be done by the tractor. Still at it. Taking a lunch break. Retirement just means a smaller pay check. At least it is in the low 90s with a breeze and the humidity is not quite as bad as it has been. Back to the fun.

work, dr. appointment for my newborn (everythings fine) sat in the parking lot and read Harry Potter for 20 mins. Back to work.

also got to work and realized I had forgot my EDC knife. (Sog twitch) but am reassured by the fact that i have a 5 inch CS Voyager, leatherman wave, and my mandu in my maxpedtion bag with me. oh, and a misc buck knife as well.
