I don't know if this has already been asked but will Scrapyard be bringing out their version of the Swamprat Ratchet? I think SR77 would be a great steel for these !!! Its not in the plans... yet Dan

If you make it, make it fat, like 3/8"
My Ratchet is nice but it needs a little more heft.
You could also add a bottle opener, nothing beats a cold beer after a long day of chopping.
Arf arf arf... That's my other dog impression.

The khuk' shape is a pain to sharpen on a flat stone! A parang would be a great compromise though.. I've wondered how folks sharpen their khukuris.. strop? Sandpaper and mouse pads is what most of us use. Maintains the convex edge. Spiral, a famous collector, uses a file and adjusts the angle periodically to maintain the convex edge.

Sandpaper wrapped around a foam sanding block. The trick is to hold the khuk stationary and move the sandpaper (45 degree angle to edge, push out and down). I usually use 3 or 4 different grit sizes. Then finish off with a wooden paddle strop from Lee Valley loaded with green compound - again, khuk stationary, strop moves. I can get it shaving sharp in a few minutes.

Or, just drink the beer and shoot a few games of pool with the neighbor down in the basement! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> Too darn cold outside anyway. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

that really is a great idea, though. i'd like it if the square choil of the bowie hooked out into a cap lifter. i became a SAK man at a birthday party that was dry until i got there. no bottle opener at the guy's house. makes me hesitant to use the term 'guy' to refer to him. at that moment i said "ugh...i'm switching to a swiss army knife."
OH! OH! OH! great idea!!!
how bout just an sr77 cap lifter? maybe something like a neck knife...i'm gonna go sketch somethin out.

Magnum22, i became a SAK man at a birthday party that was dry until i got there. no bottle opener at the guy's house. makes me hesitant to use the term 'guy' to refer to him. LOL! yeah no kidding! so they were just all standing around staring at the beer? with no way to open it? LOL! well good think you got there.. to save them from dehydration.. or boredom.
