For a folder, I have been really happy with the VG10 on my spydercos. I did find that it prefers a slightly toothier finish instead of a mirror finish when sharpening though.
For large blades, as much as it isn't a true stainless, Infi has been serving me quite well despite being sweated on , rained on and used hard! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I agree the Spydercos with VG10 are good. I still don't own any INFI so I can't say anything about it alto everyone seems to bow to it. One of these days.....

I have a CS Voyager in VG-1, whatever that is. It holds a very sharp edge even better than my older ones in AUS-8. Seems like only CS uses it for some reason. I was thinking that maybe it is similar to VG-10.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

+1. Laminated a la Fallkniven if greater strength is required. I found some pics the other day showing laminated blades that were de-laminating ( if that's the right word ).I can't remember where I saw them , does anybody have any links ?

VG-10 for me. Having owned a Fallkniven A1 previously, and a Mcusta folder currently, I really liked the toughness and edge retention.
Horn Dog, I read somewhere that maybe Hitachi, or one of the other japanese steel makers produces the VG series of steels. They are ranked according to grades...ie; VG-10 being the highest and down to VG-1 being a lower, thus cheaper grade. Don't qoute me on this, but I too was curious about VG-1 and this was a response I got off BF or somewhere.

AUS8 or good old 440C are both fine, 'honest' steels. No hype- (no silly price tag) just good solid performance..
To me, having salt bath tested it(!) INFI IS stainless in my world!

Almost $150 for those little novelty knives? That is ridiculous. Not me. No way. This is one time I would wait on Scrap Yard.
