Life is a grindstone. Whether it grinds you down or polishes you, depends on what you're made of

I can't do a flat grind on my el cheapo, but it does nice convex ones. One day I may invest in a real knife makers belt grinder. Those are beautiful straight grinds, Bill.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Nice work Bill. I end up with Convex edges on my attempts as well. I have the same cheapo grinder most everyone else has.

You have found the problem Knifeguy Choose the right belts and even a lower cost grinder will work wonders. Find an industrial supply shop in your area and see what they have on hand. If not try Tru Grit. They have or can find the right belts for your grinder and they are'n as expensive as trying to make the wrong belt work Oh and 1 more slice of advise for anyone doing mods....do NOT use worn belts!!!! They'll rub and build up heat faster that a fresh belt. The cost savings is not worth the risk!

Thanks for the confirmation Bill.

Looks like I will have to do some belt shopping.

Very nice. I imagine it is slow grinding as to not affect heat treat. This is also where the new belts help in not adding much heat.
