I own a bunch of six inch knives, including the Ranger, Swamp Rat, Busse, and Scrapper. In that size, my favorite user is the S6. It has great balance and feel. It is lighter than the others, but chops well. It has a nice acute point, too. The Rangers are very good knives, but I'd go with the S6. Maybe that's why I bought two more of them at Blade. The Res C handle and flat grind keep it light, so it carries all day without feeling like you're carrying such a big knife. The S6 is the best all around 6" knife I know of.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I totally agree with thinking that some knives are to thick to be very good cutters. I found the Mutt was terrible in this regard although to be fair it was designed more as a entry tool. A full height grind can go a long way to fixing that. I much prefer a knife without the coating but I am glad that the scrappers come with it. I would rather remove the coating myself and save the money.
It costs a lot of time and money for a company to do that finishing work and I would rather spend my cash on good steel ,excellent ergos and a top notch heat treat. The Yard knives have that in spades and even better they don't have any
extra finishing to add to the cost. In many ways it is not what SYKC has that makes them special but what they don't have.

Thanks Horn Dog and Unsub.

You know, I hadn't thought about this before, but the website says the S6 has a blade length of 6.5". Is that from tip to handle, or is that the length of the edge?

The pics comin' back from Blade West are KILLING me!!

Thanks, Scrappy.

For anyone interested in some nice Scrapper 6 action shots, yesterday I came across a 2 part review in what may be Polish (??). Also, in the first link, keep a sharp eye not to scroll past a little video at just beyond the halfway point.

The blade is about 6.5" long, as is the RD-6.
