This was a test run, before I drop the ,money into some gun cote and but a 300 dollar knife in the oven, I wanted to see what it would look like. I was outside with everything from gloss black to metallic speckle blue. I am going to find some tough do-it-yourself finish....this is only Krylon. Sad to say.

I was surprised with the Fehrman. The "satin" finish is actually beadblast, because is sanded right off, exposing fine grind lines and the like. I am going to contact Fehrman and ask about it. But is never wore like a beadblast so I am not entirely sure what it is, but I know it isn't satin.

It is amazing what different manufacturers call satin and bead blast. My new SOG Team Leaders are supposed to be "satin", but are bead blast. Their Seal Pup Elite Special Edition really is satin finished. Gerber's "satin" is bead blast as is Busse's "Double Cut". The Horn Dog "satin" finish is "Scotchbrite". Cold Steel, Busse, and Scrap Yard offer true satin finishes in their knives, at increased prices.

It is 60 more for the "Satin/Beadblast" for the Final Judgment over the crinkle coat. I wonder how rough it looks under the crinkle coat? I want to get a good scotchbrite wheel and buff the hell out of a few blades.

I thought a satin polish was when you had a mirror polish and then sanded it back to about a 600 grit?
That was the DE Henry satin finish anyway.

I thought that satin=beadblast, but I haven't seen any consistency in the knife world!
