Rat - you like those 511 pants? I've thought about getting some...

I like them a lot. Try a pair sometime. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Nice handle wrap on your ice pick Rat.

Thanks! It is a factory wrap. (Possibly done by wally Hayes.)
Pretty comfortable, much like the wrap done on the Swamp Rat Rat Tails, but with thicker epoxy.

Here is another view of the handle wrap. I should point out that the specs quoted by Andy are incorrect, it is only 3/16" thick.

Fancy work. Must provide a good grip. Do you carry that in Minnesota? Is it legal?

As an aside, speaking of Minnesota, I've done quite a bit of diving on shipwrecks off Isle Royale. We used to charter a dive boat that would pick us up in Rock Harbor Minn. and we'd head for the north end of Isle Royale, where the better, deeper wrecks are to be found.

I can carry it, but a knife tends to be more useful. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Isle royale looks sweet, but I have never been there. Diving on the old shipwrecks would be awesome, especially in The Great lakes- since the wrecks end up well preserved, I have heard.

The nice thing about Lake Superior is that the visability is 100' plus. The deeper wrecks are well preserved becasue the water is clean and, because Isle Royale is a National Park, divers are prohibited from taking trophies. My favorite wreck is the Emperor that sank in 1954 I believe. The Emperor was an ore carrier and it ran into a granite reef. The ship broke in two and the bow rests in about 50 feet of water. The rest of the ship is layed out down the reef. The stern rests at 200 feet at the screws. Along the fantail, one can still read the word "Emperor." The paint still looks good on the hand rails and the bunks are still made in the crew's quarters. There remains one body onboard. The body is thought to be that of William Currie, who was a steward.
It is theorized Currie's wrists were broken when he braced himself against the bulkhead when the ship hit the reef. His hand have since fallen off, I guess because the bones were broken and in time, ligaments, tendons, etc, decomposed.

Anyway, the stern of the Emperor was a great dive.
