I don't know what you guys are grousing about? Check out my receipt, I just bought a factory SYKO from the store just today.
The knife you bought, a Scrap Yard Yard Hook, was released in April, 2007 . . . over 5 months ago. Apparently, Dan overestimated the market demand for that design. Based on traditional rates of sale for Scrap Yard knives, had more of us wanted Yard Hooks, they would have sold out long ago. Having said that, purchasing a few Yard Hooks before they're gone and putting them up may be a good investment. I doubt Dan will make more of the black on black Hooks again anytime soon.

LOL, I was being a little sarcastic, but my point was there are new knives available for new customers. We all have what we wanted from the knives already out, but there are new folks here who have no SYKO knives and the Hook isn't a bad place to start. Most people didn't even know they were available still. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

From what I've gathered, there have been some bad heat treat batches come through Ontario, which I think is why they've gone to their own production via RAT Cutlery. I'm a huge RAT fan though - I've got 5 now, with a 6th on the way.

I have a thread here w/ pics of my new RAT RC3 from a couple days ago, and I posted a picture on the 2nd page of the RTAK II and that pine log - its a cool picture, check it out if you get a chance. Here's the url:

Anyways, thanks for the response - I know that Horn Dog here uses his RTAK and RTAK II a lot as well with no issues. Mine has seen some abuse as well. And, I was just curious as to your experience w/ yours.

Yeah, the worst damage mine has sustained was when I swung through a branch straight into a rock. This dented an 1" sections of the edge pretty bad, and I've yet to restore it quite to it's original sharpness in this section. The rest takes a really sharp edge and holds it pretty well. That story about the 9" frozen log sounds like a good time, I've yet to go though something that size. I typically carry mine on my left size, with a primary knife on my right. how about you?

Have you hugged your camp knife today?
