I use a german army sleeping pad, its just as thick as the US ones but folds up into a very compact square
the also act as a frame in the german rucks that I have!!!
they are really great but they are really hard to find in the US right now but you can find them in stores across the pond if you dont mind paying shiping
but is still ends up being only $15
they really are the best

it's alright, thinner and less effective than the one I want
they sent me the regular/original one, not the Deluxe which is thicker.

I use the z-rest exclusively as it folds down smaller than rolled up versions.

On SAR missions its saved mine or a subjects arse from freezing more than twice.

I own thremarests and they are comfy but I am tired of patching the dam things.

I use a cheap coleman egg crate style one. It think it was about $20. I have tried some of the more expensive self inflating one, but the only difference I could find was the price. I am going to cut mine down soon to save weight and I don't need it quite as wide with a mummy bag...

I was just wondering that Tikigod, I saw a nice "big agnes" partial mummy bag that has a sleeve for pads in it so you never roll off it and I was wondering if you can cut them closed cell pads to fit in!
