Cool rifle Jerry.
I've got a Winchester 30/30. It makes a good bush hunting rifle. The 44 mag sounds cool! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Jerry, Those are brockman sites. I also have a 45/70 that was modified by Wild West for me, at an NRA show a few years ago. It has the bear-proof extractor, the big-loop lever, and WilD West sites with a low-light insert in the front along with a custom site hood. I don't have any pictures of the 45/70 handy, I will get some up for you asap. Usewise, both systems are fine. Appearance-wise, the Wild West look 'cooler', with the custom hood abd rear site wings. I think the Wild West are a lot easier to install yourself, as they use existing screwholes.

very nice. i would love to have a lever action in 357 or 44 with a revolver to match. always thought that would make for a good bug out combo. less ammo to worry about. I originally wanted a .357 magnum. However, the more I think about it the more I think .44 mag was the right choice. While the .357 magnum is more than adequate for deer, the .44 magnum can also take on grizzly and elk without being to much bullet for deer and smaller game. My next handgun choice will be a .44 magnum revolver. I just have to decide which one.

Also been giving some thought to a 1 piece firing pin. I replaced the rear sight with a Smith enterprises tall buckhorn ladder sight.

The bear proof extracto is on my short list.
What are the advantages to the one piece firing pin in the Marlins?

What are the advantages to the one piece firing pin in the Marlins? I believe the 2 piece is mainly in the model 94 but I thought I read somewhere it may have been used in the 95. Anyway they apparently like to break. If it was used in the 95 I may replace it. A lot of info on these forums http://www.marlinowners.com/
