Just got back from the ER w/ Jordan. I was bagging up the trash and had just gotten off the phone with my wife (who was on her break at work, at the hospital) when I heard the "crash" of Jordan falling off of something (he's 2), which he does all the time. We met at the door between the bedroom and living room about 4-5 seconds later, and there was blood EVERYWHERE coming from his head. Must have taken me about 20 seconds to have grabbed my wallet and shoes, got him dressed, and out to the car. My V8 Explorer really got a workout on the way to he hospital while Jordan rode shotgun and bled all over the front seat. At the ER, I had them page my wife to the ER, and she comes around the corner and I wave her over from across the room - first she had a big smile on until she realized "where" we were, and then sheer panic as she sprinted over. The ER Doc for the evening is also the SWAT doctor at the Sheriff's Office, so I kinda know him - got Jordan cleaned up, and he just had a little tiny nick on the back of his head!
I couldn't believe it - I knew that heads bleed a lot, but I didn't think it would bleed THAT much from a little tiny cut.
Yesterday, he slammed his finger in the folding closet door and split it wide open - so I'd had the wife and him in the car in about a minute to go to the ER then as well, and on the way over, my wife cleaned it up enough that she could see that it was just very swolen and split, but not deep or in need of stitches.
Last week I had my blood pressure checked at the clinic (I'm 25 y/o and have a BP of like 130/90, so I was just getting it checked out). The verdict then was that I should eat less salt and lose 5 lbs to try and get under 120. Doc told me to check in every week or so to chart my progress. I think I'll wait a couple days, as I'm probably up to about 150 or so now!
So... how was everyone else's night been

yes I watched my family panic and then calm down enough to fix it when my little sister slipped and smaked her head on a small sharp rock there was no danger from the impact (ie concusion) just the cut and yes lots of blood it is really scary, glad to hear your little man-cub is all right.

Thanks James - it got me pretty excited.
He took a header at the park today and scuffed his chin as well. Been a bad week for the little man!

I am really glad everything is all right . Those little guys are tougher than they look. That feeling of heart dropping sickness when your child is hurt is like nothing else in the world and even minor head wounds bleed like crazy. I hope he gives you a day or two off but I would not count on it.

Calmer than yours my friend. I'm glad to hear your son is okay. Kids really can take a beating and put one on their parents.

Glad to hear that all is well Dice!
How was Jordan throughout this? He must have wondered what all the excitement was about!
When I was a kid, I caught the back of my head on a nail at camp and didn't realist it until a counselor absolutely freaked out as the entire back of my shirt was soaked!

Chris - he was pretty low key while I got him ready - he was very calm during the race car trip to the ER, and then he go extremely pissed when they put one of those paper ankle bracelets on him!
Once they started scrubbing on his head he got a little mad, but my wife was there to keep him calmed down.
Sounds like your injury was identical to his - I'd never seen so much blood from such a little wound. I ripped a 5" hole in my arm when I was 8 and it didn't bleed at all! Scalp cuts are pretty amazing I guess.

Glad to hear he was cool through most of it.
Yeah, I bled less when I slid across a broken bottle and opened up two parallel cuts on my shin about 3" long and fairly deep. Didn't need stitches as I was scared of needles and made reference to the Dr that he would need two stitches for every one he put in me... The comments you can get away with when you are young...

I was always good at the doctor's office

Sorry about your boy. It's tough to do these things when your so young that you may not know not to do it again! I had a good time last Sunday myself. ![[Linked Image from i7.photobucket.com]](http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y295/badandy743/Picture267.jpg)

Awesome! At least you didn't cut it completely off
I haven't had stitches for about 8 months, since the front tire fell off of my bicycle and I face planted in the street!
I felt like a little kid again, since I hadn't really ridden a bike or had a bike related injury in over ten years!
