I just hope this doesn't kill this forum the same as the Swamprat one ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" />

I guess we can't ask the fellow dogs about opinions on other knives. I'm surpised this was brought up, since there is such a gap in knife releases. I figured as long as customers were hanging out associating on this site this was a good thing for business, no matter what the topic.

I enjoy reading the opinions and dicussions of you fellow dogs. There is alot of experience and knowledge here. I guess I'll have to find these discussions elsewhere.

This may very well end up like the Swamprat forum. Boring and dull. This is Dan's forum and he can run it the way he wants.

This is just my .02 cents.

Take Care Dogs.

What is jersee devils and ramanon?

They are other knife forums Roo. They have no brand allegiance, just "general knife discussions."

I have to agree. The community here is great and I like talking about knives, photography, etc. I would like to point out that the SwampRat forum is pretty dead AND SwampRat has had knives available at their shop for quite awhile now. I see a correlation between forum traffic and sales. When Scrapyards are available we will buy them. If we can't do general knife talk then no one will be here when the knives are released and they might actually be available for months at a time. Odd thought that.

On a certain kukri forum that is brand specific that I'm one of the mods for, our policy is you can talk about other brands, but you can't bash them. We want to have a nice familiar environment and realize that the universe does not revolve around that brand, but the talk always comes back to the host brand.

This is one of the few other forums that I have felt that connection with.

After all is all comes back to the quality and price performance of Scrapyard knives even if it doesn't appear to at first glance.

You all have made some very valid points. . . . Bottom line is we were, unexpectedly, caught by a tidal wave of demand that we were in no way ready to meet. We have been making changes that will hopefully come into play over the course of the next few months.

I don't blame you guys for talking about other blades. I'm just glad that you have hung in there. We will do our best to make it worth your while.

Dan

If anything, given the number of other places we could go to talk knives, the fact a lot of us stayed here through the drought says something about the yard...

Why is everyone acting so upset about this? If someone on the Busse forum posted a review thread about some competing brand of knives, it would get moved to another forum.(same goes for any manufacturer's forum) This is the Scrap Yard Knives forum. People new to the site will come here to find out about the knives. Discussing topics other than knives- guns, swords, axes, cars, dogs, camping, etc, etc. . . would still be fine, as far as I can tell.

Asking that competitor's products not be promoted on their dime is perfectly reasonable. Huffy posts demanding new knives to talk about (as if Dan is purposely not releasing them) is not at all reasonable.
